Prominent artistes, music promoters and other stakeholders in the Hip Hop industry from Zimbabwe and South Africa will meet for the inaugural Zim Hip Hop Summit to be hosted by Shoko Festival.
The Hip Hop Indaba which will take place on the 30th of September is aimed to create and discuss pertinent issues about the Zim Hip Hop industry.
The Zim Hip Hop Summit is a one-day convention that seeks to bring together artists and other stakeholders to share knowledge, have a dialogue. The Zim Hip Hop Summit is about building bridges on a myriad of levels. The conference aims to bring local and some international hip hop players to exchange information and explore ways of ensuring growth and sustainability.
The Summit will be led by a carefully curated panelists that are highly knowledgeable and will share their expertise on given topics.
Topics to be discussed include; State of Zimbabwean Hip Hop, Business of Hip Hop and Lyricism, Conflict and Expression.
Why the summit?
Hip Hop is the biggest youth culture in the world and in Zimbabwe it has been growing for years since the 80s. However, a lot of challenges continue to draw back a real take off of the culture into a commercially viable, social and politically impacting movement. It is against this background that we seek to bring heads together to create conversations that can translate into practice.
