Masofa Panze head honcho Noble Stylz recently released a brand new single featuring king of Shabeen rap, Dough Major, ahead of his upcoming album Ndopika NaGogo.
Titled King PaMic, the song was produced by Boy Tricky and the video was directed by Bezaleel Mhako of Imvi Studios.
With the local Hip Hop scene currently in a wrangle of who the King of Zim Hip Hop is, Noble comes in addressing the issue and emphasising how some rappers will be kings when they are old.
“The king here (DJ King Her), handisi kutaura DJ, I mean Noble Stylz, muchaita ma king machembera, Prince Charles,” says Noble in his first verse.
Known for his witty word-play and punchlines, Noble Sylz took a swipe at several rappers who are using the ‘bass voice’ in their music and some of these are obviously the ones doing Drill music.
“Mapedza here draft takuda kutamba chess, mapedza here competition yekuimba ne bass, mapedza here stress inokonzerwa nema dress…,” sang Noble in his chorus.
On the Boy Tricky beat, Dough Major understood the assignment. His raps blended in seamlessly with the beat and he didn’t derail from the story-line as he also emphasised how Zim Hip Hop needs a real king.
“Pakutoda king pamic, kwete king wema scandals, Hip Hop saviour anotofamba nema scandals…,” says Dough Major in his opening verse.
If social media is anything to by, it might be crystal clear who some of the rappers mentioned in this song are, but for the sake of peace, they are not going to be mentioned on this platform.
King PaMic is pretty dope, it has a catchy hook, the beat selection was amazing and the raps are also nothing short of amazing. This collaboration was obviously long overdue, and the culture needed something like this.
