Top Zimbabwean musician Anita Jaxson took to her social media pages to give a heart-felt appreciation post to Dancehall chanter Poptain and others who have played a crucial role in her musical career.
Anita paid homage to Poptain whom she said believed in her talent when she had given up on her music career.
“You believed in me before I believed in myself. Thank you all for nurturing my talent and helping me develop into a strong woman,” said Anita.
“I really didn’t care about music, I just wanted to continue with my 8 to 5 job because that was easier. Everything was structured. All I had to do was wake up, catch a combi, go sit at a desk and serve clients and get paid at the end of the month.”
Before she met the “Fadza Mutengi” hit-maker, Anita was working at Pablo’z in Harare.
“He told me that I have a gift and that I had to share it with the world .In my mind I thought Pop was over ambitious😂. ‘This dude is selling me dreams 😂 and I am not buying into it’, she added.
Anita was later introduced to music producer Leekay and he recorded her first song for free because she couldn’t afford to pay for it.
“Anyway he managed to convince me and we headed to @leekaydiman studio. Ever since that day my life changed. He introduced me to @producedbydev and @directorteekay, who are now our managers 🙈,” she said.
“Leekay on the other hand produced my first songs for free because I was broke lol. I am so grateful and blessed to have all of you in my life. You believed in me before I believed in myself.”
Anita, who is now dating Poptain is signed to Creative Kulture Africa which is also the home to Poptain.
The ‘High on your love’ hit-maker thanked everyone who has everyone who has made her who she is today.
“Thank you all for nurturing my talent and helping me develop into a strong woman. @creativekultureafrica is my home. You guys have uplifted my spirit. Besides the music @producedbydev and @directorteekay always make sure that we are mentally stable and that we are healthy,” she said.
“There is no Anita Jaxson without you guys and that’s a fact! I pray that all your dreams come to light because you deserve all the good things in life ❤️.”
Anita Jaxson and Poptain’s song titled ‘More’ which was released more than a month ago is currently trending at number 6 on YouTube.
